A Different Kind

Of Brave

Lone Oak is a young boy with a gentle heart. While other boys practice their aim, he spends his days sitting in the shade outside his tepee, where animals like rabbits, squirrels, ducks, sheep, foxes, chipmunks, and birds come to him without fear. He believes these animals are his brothers and sisters in nature, not targets.

But as his tenth birthday approaches, Lone Oak faces a terrifying challenge: the Manhood Ceremony. To be accepted as a man in his tribe...

Gayle Sokolsky

Gayle Sokolsky spent part of her childhood on a farm, where her earliest lessons came from the animals she lived among and loved. Those childhood years shaped her lifelong belief in respecting all living creatures.
